An update from us. The regulatory guidance issued to the Newby and Scalby Community Hall Trust following their self-referral is not an exoneration, and it will not be treated as one. The absence of a formal statutory inquiry is by no means a finding that the trustees acted properly.

​The critical questions remain completely unanswered:
1. ​Was the sale process genuinely transparent?
2. ​Was 'best value' truly secured for the charity's assets?
3. ​Were conflicts of interest and core governance duties properly managed?
4. ​Why did the Trustees make inaccurate claims regarding fundraising and volunteer recruitment?
5. ​Why has the community been misled about the future of its hall?

​We will continue to vigorously demand that the current Trustees step down immediately, and that control of the Trust be transferred either to new, community-appointed Trustees or to an interim manager."
